Azores Airlines Launches Porto – US Services

Portuguese carrier, Azores Airlines, has launched this week its new direct services from Porto on mainland Portugal to the U.S.

This article will cover the details surrounding Azores Airlines new nonstop services from Porto and their operations across these routes.

Azores Airlines, part of the SATA Group, is a Portuguese carrier that serves the Azores Archipelago. The islands are known as, Ponta Delgada, Santa Maria, Terceira, Graciosa, Sao Jorge, Pico and Horta.

The carrier is headquartered out of Ponta Delgada Joao Paulo II Airport (PDL) and operates a fleet of 10 aircraft. This is broken down as, three Airbus A320s, two Airbus A320neos, two Airbus A321neos and three Airbus A321LRs.

The SATA Group also operates a domestic carrier, named SATA Air Acores. This operator has a total of seven aircraft, two Dash 8 Q200s and five Dash 8 Q400s.

After operating a very successful U.S. schedule from Ponta Delgada and Madeira. The carrier has now launched direct U.S. services from Porto Francisco de Sa Carneiro Airport (OPO).

The will now serve the following routes directly –

  • Porto to New York – Operated once per week on Thursdays.
  • New York to Porto – Operated once per week on Sundays.
  • Porto to Boston – Operated once per week on Tuesdays.
  • Boston to Porto – Operated once per week on Wednesdays.
  • Porto to Toronto – Operated one per week on Saturdays.
  • Porto to Toronto – Operated once per week on Fridays.

In addition to these new direct services, passengers will be able to connect on 24 weekly services to the Azores Archipelago. Meaning via Ponta Delgada they can head to Boston, New York, Cape Verde (Praia), Toronto and Montreal.
