ESIC hires 451 UPSC candidates left out of final list via Pratibha Setu Portal

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), under the Ministry of Labour, has appointed 451 candidates as insurance medical officers through the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Pratibha Setu portal, reported TOI. These candidates had cleared all stages of the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE) in 2022 and 2023 but did not make the final merit list.

The Pratibha Setu (Professional Resource and Talent Integration – Bridge for Hiring Aspirants) portal provides verified employers, including ministries, PSUs, autonomous bodies, and private companies, access to a database of non-recommended but willing candidates who cleared UPSC exams and reached the interview stage, as per the TOI report.

The initiative stems from the Department of Personnel and Training’s (DoPT) public disclosure scheme, launched in 2018, which made available the details of such candidates from various UPSC examinations. These include the Civil Services Examination, Engineering Services Examination, Central Armed Police Forces Examination, and Combined Geo-Scientist Examination, among others.

Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said many of these candidates often become teachers or run coaching centres, but with the portal, they now have opportunities in both public and private sectors.

Employers registered with valid credentials can use the Pratibha Setu platform to access candidate profiles, which include educational qualifications and contact details. The ESIC’s recruitment marks one of the largest successful utilisations of this first-of-its-kind talent-matching platform.
