KLM and Air France Launch Unique Pilot Collaboration for Summer Flights
Starting this week, KLM and Air France have kicked off a new flight crew collaboration.
For the next four months, Air France pilots will operate KLM’s Boeing 777-200 flights between John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in New York and Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
This collaboration allows the Air France-KLM Group to maximize its resources and ensure smooth operations for KLM’s scheduled flights during the busy summer season.
First Collaboration Flight Departs
The first flight, KL641, took off from Schiphol on July 16 at 1:25 p.m., with Air France pilots working alongside KLM cabin crew.
This marks a historic first for the Air France-KLM Group. Never before have Air France pilots and KLM crew collaborated to operate a KLM flight.
Behind the scenes, teams from both airlines have spent months fine-tuning every detail. They coordinated with unions, aviation authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure everything runs seamlessly.

JFK-Schiphol Route Service
The collaboration involves one Boeing 777-200 aircraft on the JFK-Schiphol route, crewed by Air France pilots. This arrangement will continue until the summer schedule ends on October 25.
