Paris Air Show 2025 Recap Day 2: Airbus Still Strong But Much Quieter Day…
And just like that, Day 2 of the Paris Air Show 2025 comes to an end, with Airbus still up significantly, but a much quieter day.
Activity other than the European planemaker’s highlights today have been pretty dead, but still some progress.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
Triple-Digit Order Secured from Airbus…
Airbus were the only manufacturer to score an order on Day 2 of the Paris Air Show.
This was via a Memorandum of Understanding with Vietjet for 100 A321neo aircraft, with options for another 50 on top.
Such an order comes just weeks after the Vietnamese carrier placed an order for 20 additional Airbus A330neo aircraft as well.
Commenting on the deal was Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft:
“Our latest agreement comes just weeks after the airline placed an additional order for A330neo widebody aircraft”.
“Together the A321neo and A330neo will be perfect partners for Vietjet to continue to spread its wings, efficiently matching capacity more closely to demand across its network.”
“The airline will also benefit from the high levels of technical commonality that are unique to latest generation Airbus aircraft.”
Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao added to this saying:
“This new agreement marks a significant milestone in our strategic partnership with Airbus”.
“These modern and efficient aircraft have been instrumental in Vietjet’s growth, helping us make air travel more accessible and affordable for millions, while strengthening our role as a connector for economic development, cultural exchange and global connectivity.”
“This landmark agreement represents a vital step in Vietjet’s growth strategy as a multi-national aviation group.”
It is clear from this that Vietjet’s big Airbus order at the Paris Air Show 2025 today signifies a strategy of massive growth in the years to come.
Still Nothing from Boeing at the Paris Air Show 2025 So Far…
Boeing continues to lay low at the Paris Air Show 2025, and are allowing themselves to be eclipsed by Airbus following last week’s events.
As mentioned by Semafor, they are missing out on significant announcements to make.
But again, as mentioned in our Day 1 recap, this isn’t surprising given the Air India Boeing 787 crash last week.
However, despite this, information has been released by the press stating that they could be close to a landmark order with Turkish Airlines.
Via Aviation Week, the airline’s chairman Ahmet Bolat said it was a matter of pricing and engine cost:
“We had a final gap between us and Boeing.”
“I was hoping that we could close that here in Le Bourget, but they had to fly to India for the event that happened”.
By the way Bolat has chosen his words, an order at the Paris Air Show 2025 isn’t expected between both sides.
Furthermore, it is also unclear how many aircraft are involved in these negotiations too.
All will no doubt be revealed once the dust settles.
With the executive leadership not present at the air show, it is clear what sort of theme this will result in for the American planemaker.
ATR & Embraer Also Very Quiet Too…
Unlike Airbus, Embraer and ATR are also very quiet on the scene at the Paris Air Show 2025.
For the Brazilian planemaker, there was some solace for it’s E2 program.
As per Simple Flying, it is understood ANA Holdings, that went shopping yesterday, have also finalized a firm order for 15 E190-E2 aircraft.
However, this doesn’t represent a fresh order for them at the Paris Air Show 2025.
This is because the 15 E190-E2s firmed up come from a previous announcement made earlier this year as part of a 77-strong fleet transformation package.
So, with this in mind, it unfortunately won’t be going on the scoreboards for the Brazilian planemaker.
However, as per The Air Current, it looks like Embraer is trying to get another order for the E1s out of SkyWest Airlines, who have ordered from the Brazilian planemaker at previous airshows before.
It looks like another 50 E175-E1s will be ordered, but this is yet to be officially confirmed.
As for ATR, things are also pretty quiet at present too.
Rumours of a IndiGo order as noted yesterday haven’t materialised as of yet, but still some time left for this to happen.
There doesn’t seem to be much in terms of commercial activity going on in Le Bourget for the planemaker.
Like with Boeing, they haven’t scored anything so far, and make Airbus look just that more dominant at the Paris Air Show 2025.
Is It Going to be a Quieter Paris Air Show 2025?

So the numbers at the Paris Air Show 2025 are very clear – Airbus is stealing the show so far, and look set to have a very successful sales campaign this week.
With 378 units sold based on LoIs, MoUs, options and firm orders, it has been a busy campaign thus far.
What will be interesting to see is whether Day 3 brings anymore momentum for the European planemaker.
Are they going to keep going, or will things begin to quiet down on their side?
Furthermore, concerns are there that Boeing may choose to miss out any sales announcements for the rest of the week.
Whilst they secured 303 orders in May, their largest tally in two years, it is interesting to see whether any of those orders were supposed to be for the air show.
Based on the rumour mill, the American planemaker was probably set to sell a few aircraft at the air show.
From a PR perspective, it definitely was bad timing that the Air India accident happened, but they have done the right thing in being more focused on the aftermath.
Whether they wait for the dust to settle post-crash and post-air show is unclear, but safety comes first in this regard.
As for Embraer and ATR, it will be interesting to see whether they add anything to the scoreboard or not.
Normally, Embraer unveil all of their orders via one massive press conference, but it is unclear when this will be.
As for the French regional aircraft manufacturer, all eyes will be on whether they can get the order with IndiGo across the line.
