Serious head injury after Hockey Canada days has impacted memory, NHLer testifies at sex assault trial

Savard has wrapped up her cross-examination of Howden.

Hilary Dudding, Alex Formenton’s lawyer, is now questioning him.

She starts by asking about the 2018 world junior tournament in Buffalo, N.Y., early into 2018.

There was no drinking because the legal age is 21 and the players had to give up their cellphones in the evenings as they were there to play hockey and not socialize.

Howden confirms he and Formenton played on the same line and they knew each other professionally, not socially.

Formenton was a year younger than Howden and didn’t have as much experience with women, Dudding says, to which Howden agrees.

Dudding clarifies the players were not “pounding” drinks at the Hockey Canada gala because they were sitting at tables that included sponsors.

Howden drank “dollar beers” at Jack’s bar, so they were in small cups, Dudding says.

Howden agrees.
